Getting Started

Who can use Passenger.ie?

Passenger.ie is designed exclusively for Free Travel Pass holders. You must have a valid Free Travel Pass to book train tickets through our service.

What is the Free Travel Pass?

The Free Travel Pass is issued by the Department of Social Protection in Ireland. It allows seniors (66+) and certain other eligible groups to travel free on trains and other public transport services.

Can I book for family members?

You can only book tickets for yourself as the Free Travel Pass holder. Each passenger must have their own valid Free Travel Pass to use our service.

Payments & Pricing

How much does Passenger.ie cost?

Passenger.ie offers multiple payment options:

  • App Store: €59 one-time purchase
  • Stripe Subscriptions: €4.99/month or €49/year
  • Lifetime Access: €99 one-time payment
  • Carrier Billing: €5 per booking or €4.99/month subscription
Do I pay for train tickets?

No! As a Free Travel Pass holder, you travel free on train services. Passenger.ie only charges for the convenience of automated booking through our app.

Refunds

What is your refund policy?

Refund policies vary by payment channel:

  • Apple App Store: Request refunds through Apple's "Report a Problem" page
  • Stripe payments: Contact us at support@passenger.ie within 14 days for subscription refunds or 30 days for one-time purchases
  • Carrier billing: Contact your mobile operator for refund requests

Data & Privacy

What data do you collect?

We collect only the information necessary to book your train tickets:

  • Your name (as it appears on your Free Travel Pass)
  • Email address (for ticket delivery)
  • Phone number
  • Journey details (origin, destination, dates)

We do NOT store payment card information or your train booking credentials.

How long do you keep my data?

We delete your booking information 90 days after your travel date. You can request immediate deletion by emailing privacy@passenger.ie.

Is Passenger.ie affiliated with the train operator?

No. Passenger.ie is an independent service that helps you book tickets through the public train booking system. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Iarnród Éireann.

Who owns the content and trademarks?

Iarnród Éireann and related trademarks are owned by Iarnród Éireann. All train schedules, routes, and service information belong to the train operator. For details, see our Content Rights & Disclaimer.

Passenger.ie is available as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works on:
